Iowa Man Who Made Gun Threat in School Sentenced

Collier was arrested in late October following a manhunt around Merrill Middle School after he argued with his girlfriend inside the school and said he had a gun. He was later found hiding under a car. The incident forced several schools to be locked down.

Collier had sought probation so he could seek treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder stemming from his U.S. Marine Corps service. But Polk County District Court James Birkenholz said Collier’s history of drug arrests merited a prison sentence.
