Iowa prosecutors have made a deal with a Sioux City contractor accused in a kickback scheme with an Iowa Transportation Department employee. Prosecutors filed documents last week to dismiss charges against 60-year-old Grady Marx. A copy of the motion says Marx has agreed to cooperate in the prosecution of two other men.
One is David Weigel, of Nevada. He’s a former Transportation Department worker accused of theft, conspiracy, money laundering. An audit report in April linked Weigel to more than $580,000 in improper disbursements. His son, Jason Weigel, also has been charged in the case.
February trials have been scheduled for both Weigels, who have pleaded not guilty.
