The West Hancock girls fell to 1-3 on the young season with a loss to the West Fork Warhawks on Monday night. The Warhawks came out shooting early relying on Mickee Guritz who piled in 8 points in the first quarter. Courtney Larsen added another 6 points along with points from five others and the Warhawks jumped out to an early 22 – 8 lead. Madison Schreckengost added two three pointers in the second quarter while her sister Sydney added one of her own and the Eagles spotted the Warhawks a 37-16 lead.
In the second half Lindsey Petersen went to the line 4 times going 5 for 9 from the charity stripe. Kaitlyn Liekweg added a three pointer and the Warhawks added 11 more points to pad their lead in the 3rd quarter. However, Maria Gonzalez started to get her game together and sank 6 of her 11 points in the game in the fourth. Emily Hammer and Whitney Burgardt of the Eagles got into foul trouble early in the fourth and the Eagles couldn’t recover losing 70 – 31 to the Warhawks.
The Eagles now travel to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura to take on the Cardinals on Tuesday night at 6pm.
