The Winnebago County Unemployment rate has gone down according to officials with the Iowa Works of north Iowa. Unemployment rates in the entire KIOW listening area have dropped and average of .2 percent. Winnebago County saw the largest decrease in unemployment as rates from November of 2012 were 5.1% compared to 4.3% this year.
In surrounding counties such as Worth, there was a drop of .1% to 4.3%, Hancock County went from 4.3% to 3.8%. Kossuth saw a drop from 3.2% to 2.9% and Cerro Gordo went from 4.9% in November of last year to 4.2% this year.
Only Adams County in southwest Iowa saw an increase in unemployment, jumping .4% to 4.0%. Monroe County in southeast Iowa was the only county to remain unchanged at 4.7%.
The numbers take into account such things as seasonal employment and the number of people who are filing for unemployment.
