The Forest City School District is now putting up for sale, the Crystal Lake School Building. The facility would have to be sold to a responsible party who has to outline how the building would be used. Currently, the Forest City School District uses the gymnasium for sporting activities and other events. Included in the sale would be the bus barn which would also have to be outlined as to its function with the new owners.
Forest City Community School District Superintendent Darwin Lehmann told KIOW News:
The school board will begin taking bids on the properties which have to be sold together. Lehmann and the board agreed that the district cannot support the facilities if they are sitting idly. Lehmann did say that one of the stipulations in the sale is that the district can continue to use the gymnasium after the sale.
