Forest City Council to Meet Monday

FC City Hall A somewhat light agenda faces the City Council of Forest City on Monday. The council will approve new applications for licenses and permits first and then move on to doing a second reading of the Ordinance #738. This ordinance establishes the Historic Preservation Commission for the City of Forest City whose purpose is to recognize and promote historic sites. The group would also be responsible for applying for historic preservation grants for homes and businesses within the city limits. The council will further define the limits of power that the commission would have.

A review of the progress on the new Public Safety Center will be discussed. Currently the center construction is underway off of 69 Highway and Clark Street. The city wants to review the progress and the funding for the project. Along with that will be discussion on the CDBG Downtown Revitalization Program. Organizers are trying to show the council and mayor not only the progress so far on the program, but where things stand.

Finally, the mayor and council will hear from the Chamber of Commerce and an update on issues and events facing the chamber.

The meeting will begin at 7pm in council chambers.
