The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors met in closed session to discuss the purchase of real estate for a Public Safety Center near the Village Chateau Motel in Forest City. A law enforcement committee recommended that the property be used as the site for the new facility. After the discussion was finished, the Supervisors opened the meeting to hear about a request for payment in lieu of taxes by the North Iowa Regional Housing Authority.
The supervisors reviewed a letter to rural property owners describing the new recycling program. The program is designed to supply recycling services to county residents outside city limits or not served by city services.
The supervisors also reviewed and approved Maintenance Agreements with the City of Lake Mills and Buffalo Center. The agreements cover the 2014 fiscal year. Then the supervisors discussed revisions with law enforcement contracts with the cities of Leland, Rake, Scarville, and Thompson.
