A Public Hearing has been scheduled by the Garner City Council to discuss the voluntary annexation of the Garner Golf and Country Club. The annexation, which is voluntary, will involve 77 acres. The purchase price of the course according to officials is around $140,000, but could end up being more. The price is contingent on the amount of the debt that the golf course is facing at year’s end. Right now the debt is around $140,000.
The city is looking to use sales tax to fund the purchase of the course. Once the city takes over as owner of the site, they will have a new non-profit foundation run the site.
The city has put the discussion of approving the negotiated purchase agreement and subsequent operating agreement on the December 10th docket when the council meets.
